Creating a work that questions the future of Mauritian plant ecosystems while offering an immersive aesthetic experience, without falling into pessimism or didacticism. We explored the delicate beauty of Mauritian flora through a futuristic and meditative lens. Using artificial intelligence, we generated unique flowers inspired by the rich plant life and symbolic essence of Mauritius. Though imaginary, they embody the distinctive characteristics of local flora while offering an abstract, poetic vision of the natural world.
The sound design blends digitally transformed natural sounds with futuristic textures, creating an atmosphere that oscillates between serenity and strangeness.
Finalist for the 2024 Samudra Art Prize, Mauritius, the video immerses viewers in a reflection on fragility and transformation. In a world where the environment grows increasingly vulnerable, it raises a crucial question: can these digital images ever replace the essence of living nature?
A contemplative piece where technology becomes a mirror for what we risk losing.
